Direct contamination can be caused as a result of land overlying aquifers for the purpose of slurries. This can also lead to rise of nitrogen level as nitrate or nitrite.
Industrial wastewater treatment involves the processes and mechanisms utilized for treating the waters that have been polluted or contaminated by commercial activities or anthropogenic industrial activities for reuse or before discharging it to the environment. A variety of strategies are required for treating the industrial wastewaters. Some of the techniques which are used for treating these wastewaters include brine treatment, grease and oils removal, solids removal, removal of biodegradable organics, treatment of toxic materials, alkalis and acids and other organics. Solids are removed by using ultrafiltration or filtration and flocculation. Biodegradable organics are eliminated by trickling filter process and active sludge process.
